Denmark in Afghanistan

- WHY, HOW AND FOR HOW LONG?

Denmark has been contributing to the efforts to create security and stability in Afghanistan since 2001 when the Taliban regime was removed by an internationally supported military operation. In the publication you can learn about the reasons for the involvement, and how and when the job will be done. You can read about the workday of the Danish soldiers in the Helmand province, and find out how Denmark contributes to the civilian reconstruction all over the country. You can meet different Danes who work in Afghanistan. You can read about the challenges that persist – but also about some of the results that have been achieved. The purpose is to provide you with a more solid foundation to assess whether the engagement is worth the effort.
