Evaluation de la coopération au développement du Danemark avec le Niger
Cooperation between Denmark and Niger dates back to the 1970s. The country ranks last on the United Nations human development index (HDI), suffering from widespread poverty and difficult environmental, political, social and security conditions. In the period dealt with by this evaluation, development assistance has focused on three sectors: water and sanitation, agriculture and rural development and good governance. The overall objective of the evaluation was to assess Denmark’s contribution to development in Niger in terms of peace, stability and democracy. Recommendations include strengthening monitoring and evaluation of the programmes, ensuring adequate follow up given that much of the assistance is provided through other bilateral and multilateral agencies (“delegated partnerships”) and enhancing the strategic approach to peace and security as well as human rights. The evaluation is published in French and was undertaken by an independent team working with ADE (Belgium).
